Hawks Flying High
Santa Ana, CA - So far this academic year, seven Hawks women’s soccer sophomores have committed to four-year universities across the nation for fall 2012. They will continue their studies whilst receiving various scholarships to continue to play at the collegiate level.
Those college commitments and the 2010/2011 State Academic Team Award, are not the only ways the Hawks soccer team has been flying high. Following on from some leadership training and a visit to Camp Pendleton for the day in January, the Hawks teamed up once again with the United States Marine Corps on Friday. Captain Hankle arranged for the women’s soccer team to fly a King Air E 90 aircraft. The Hawks student-athletes took to the skies 5 players at a time, taking-off from Orange County Airport and heading South down towards Dana Point. Each player in turn had the opportunity to take the steering and fulfill what for many was a lifetime dream of flying an aircraft. Pictured is All-American Athlete and team captain Janelle Hanna about to take the controls to guide the aircraft across the Orange County skyline.
Many thanks go out to Captain Lowman and Captain Hankle for allowing the team the opportunity fly, as part of the United States Marine Corps Flight Orientation program.

Hawks Proud of Accomplishments
Sacramento, CA - On paper going in to the final it looked like this game could go either way…. and it did, as the lead changed hands three times in the course of 120 minutes. The Hawks were taking a trip to the State Final Four for the fourth time in the last six years, and Santa Rosa, the number one seed in Northern California, were the beaten finalists from 2010. The challenge for the Hawks was to contain the offensive threat of Cara Curtin who had tallied 34 of the Bearcubs 69 goals this season. The challenge for Santa Rosa was to stop the offensive threat of SCC who had scored more goals than any other team in the State and also conceded the fewest with just 8.
The Hawks put on a fully committed display, showing courage and pride, but ultimately couldn’t curtail Cara Curtin’s goal-scoring prowess. Battling injuries to the backline going in to the game, the Hawks fell behind in the 18th minute after Curtin out-paced the Hawks defense and lifted the ball over the keeper. Prior to that, the Hawks had dominated possession with Bianca Frontino and Amanda Scheatzle going close. Annie Brodzki powered a header inches over the bar with minutes remaining in the half, but the Hawks went in to the break a goal behind.
As the second half began, a resurgent SCC showed their fighting spirit and was rewarded around the 55 minute mark. Good work from Scheatzle down the right found an opening to cross, and Kristen Blogg lunged in at the far post to slide the ball across the line for the equalizer. SCC continued to drive forward and won a penalty when Janelle Hanna was bundled over inside the area. Hanna strode up and calmly slotted the ball away to put the Hawks two-one up as they looked to close out the game. Santa Rosa remained a threat and found a way back in to the game when they were awarded a late penalty on a controversial hand-ball call. Tied at 2-2, the game headed in to two fifteen minute periods of over time.
It was the Bearcubs who struck first when Curtin turned and rifled a ball in to the top corner from the edge of the area. Once again the Hawks found themselves a goal down, but once again they rose to the challenge. With five minutes to go in the 2nd period, Jennifer Martin cut inside from the left and thundered the ball across the keeper in to the top corner from 25 yards. SCC continued to push for the winner but in a final twist the Bearcubs countered and Curtin grabbed the winner.
The SCC team can be immensely proud of its accomplishments, as Orange Empire Conference Champions for the eighth consecutive year, and 2011 State Finalists. But more so this 2011 Hawks team can be proud of the way it has conducted itself on and off the field. The desire and commitment this team showed individually and collectively to be the best that they can be is the true measure of their success.

Santiago Canyon 2, Orange Coast 1
Orange, CA - The Hawks team can now start packing their belongings for the road trip to Northern California. The 4th appearance in the State Final Four in the last 6 years was confirmed for Santiago Canyon College Women’s Soccer with a 2-1 victory over the Orange Coast Pirates.
A strong wind favored an athletic Pirates team in the first-half. It was OCC who had the better of the early going but SCC Keeper, Jakellene Palacios, was not called upon to make a save. The Hawks gradually found a foothold in the game and scored the opening goal after 36 minutes. Bianca Frontino found space to serve in to the penalty area and Valerie Barrios latched on to the loose ball and powered it in to the net. Three minutes later the Hawks doubled their lead with Dena Wasielewski sweeping the ball beyond the Coast keeper to put SCC in a commanding position. Coast responded though just before the half-time break when Emma Pridmore struck left-footed from the edge of the area to cut the deficit. The Hawks went in to the break leading 2-1.
Santiago Canyon controlled the second-half and looked the far more likely to score through-out with out creating many clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities. The closest SCC came to extending their lead was through Nicole Daniels who struck from deep only to see the Coast keeper tip it on to the cross-bar and the ball rebounded in to play. The late Coast surge never really came as the Santiago Canyon defense held firm to secure the win that takes the Hawks to Consumnes River College in Sacramento for Friday's semi-final.
Thanks to all those who came out to support the team today.

Santiago Canyon 5, Long Beach 0
Orange, CA - In a dominant display, the Santiago Canyon Hawks looked convincing in their first-round play-off game against a brave Long Beach Vikings team.
A left-footed strike from the edge of the area by Annie Brodzki set the Hawks on their way. The Hawks continued to look strong creating numerous chances, but could not turn the pressure in to goals until Valerie Barrios struck just before the half. Ashley Caligiuri got in down the Vikings right and fed Barrios who clipped the ball first-time in at the near post to put the Hawks two up at the break.
Not satisfied, the Hawks began the second-half with a bang. Amanda Scheatzle was on hand to drive in the third after some good work down the Hawks left. Bianca Frontino then got in on things with a fine solo run and a finish from distance. Jennifer Martin then put the Hawks 5-0 up from a serve by Crystal Mena. With more than 35 minutes still to go, Santiago Canyon took the opportunity to give all the outfield players a run-out, as Jakellene Palacios and Shelbi Young combined for the shut-out in goal.
The Hawks play next on Tuesday, November 22nd at Santiago Canyon College against the winner of Cuyamaca and Chaffey Colleges. Thanks to all those who came out to watch the game today.

Hawks End Regular Season on High
Orange, CA - Playing the last league game of 2011, the Hawks looked confident from the beginning and finished the game with their biggest score-line of the season. The visiting Saddleback team had something to offer going forward, but the Hawks were clinical in front of goal scoring from 8 of their 19 attempts on goal. Jen Martin and Valerie Barrios both registered hat-tricks, with both Janelle Hanna and Marissa Vasquez also getting on the score-sheet. Emily Tielrooy collected the shut-out making 3 saves.
The Hawks, who were crowned Orange Empire Conference Champions with two games to go in league, now await the outcomes of Fridays’ games and the resulting seeding for play-offs. No other college has scored more goals than the Hawks so far this season, nor has any other team conceded fewer goals than SCC. There is no doubt Santiago Canyon College are a team that other colleges will be looking to avoid in the play-offs.
Opponents, venues and kick-off times will be announced on Tuesday, November 15th for the first–round games scheduled for Saturday, November 19th. Once details of the Hawk's game are announced, they will posted on this site.

Hawks Rampant in 7-2 Win
Orange, CA - Four goals in the first 35 minutes effectively sealed the contest early for SCC in a strong win against 4th placed Golden West College. Crystal Mena opened the scoring after just 3 minutes as her shot was deflected beyond the reach of the Rustlers keeper. Then Jennifer Martin converted a Bianca Frontino corner, and was on hand once more shortly afterwards to head in an Amanda Scheatzle serve. Mo Cherry scored her first goal of the season with a strike from distance. The Hawks then conceded a soft goal to go in at half-time with a 4-1 lead.
After the break Scheatzle again was the creator with a ball that was cut back for Valerie Barrios to clip across the keeper to score the fifth. Martin completed her hat-trick to put the Hawks up 6-1. To their credit, Golden West never gave up and grabbed a second with five minutes to go. Marissa Vazquez slipped in the seventh goal for the Hawks after a great ball in from Nicole Daniels to round out the scoring.
The Hawks play their final regular season game at home to Saddleback College on Tuesday, November 8th. Kick-off is at 3pm. Thanks to all those who came out to cheer on the Hawks today.

Hawks Champions
Norco, CA - The 2011 Hawks team reached their first significant milestone of the season with a win at Riverside College to become the 2011 Orange Empire Conference Champions with two games remaining in league.
It was an early kick-off against the Tigers at the Norco Campus. Neither team could find a rhythm in the opening period, and the game was scoreless at the half.
After the break SCC turned up the heat and two goals from Valerie Barrios with in the space of 5 minutes set the Hawks on their way. In the 50th minute Barrios picked up the ball in front of the Riverside back four, found an opening and struck a ferocious drive from the top of the penalty area to give the Hawks the lead. More was to come shortly afterwards and it was Barrios again who found space to drive home the second after Crystal Mena had got in behind Riverside's defense down the Hawks left. On the hour mark, Bianca Frontino fed Ashley Caligiuiri who finished from close range. Then Kristen Blogg grabbed the fourth and final goal after good work from Amanda Scheatzle. Emily Tielrooy completed the shut-out in goal for the Hawks
SCC now continue to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead with a game at home against Golden West College on Friday, November 4th Kick-off is 3pm. Thanks to the loyal Hawks following who were in attendance in numbers again today.

Hawks Convincing in Road Win

Valerie Barrios opened the scoring, slotting the ball past the keeper after a Bianca Frontino through-ball. Frontino volleyed home the second shortly after. Then Ashley Caligiuri converted at the far post from a deep serve by Barrios and the Hawks went in to the break 3 goals up.
In the second period Fullerton continued to battle, but Barrios rounded the keeper to put the outcome beyond doubt. Janelle Hanna then scored twice with the second goal a thunderbolt from 30 yards. All the out-field players contributed in a fine team win as Emily Tielrooy collected the shut-out.

Home Win
Orange, CA - Santiago Canyon pulled 9 points clear of third place Cypress in the Orange Empire Conference standings with a 1-0 home win.
Super-sub Brittany Bradford was the difference-maker as she came on in the 80th minute and immediately made an impact. A long serve from Crystal Mena was helped on by Janelle Hanna and Bradford headed the ball across the line.
The only surprise for the Hawks was that the break-through didn't come earlier. Santiago Canyon dominated for long spells but could not manage to turn the pressure in to goals. In the first period the Hawks created multiple openings with Valerie Barrios, Amanda Scheatzle and Ashley Caligiuri all going close. In the second period the Hawks continued to push forward but too often the final ball let them down. After Bradford grabbed the goal, Bianca Frontino was unlucky not to double the lead with a well-struck drive on frame.
The Hawks again looked solid defensively with Janelle Hanna, Mo Cherry, Haley Wenlock and Nicole Daniels all out-standing. Jakey Palacios collected the shut-out in goal without registering a save.
SCC play next on the road at Fullerton College on Friday October 28th for a 3pm kick-off. Thanks to all who came out to cheer on the Hawks today.

Coast 1, Santiago Canyon 1
Costa Mesa, CA - In a game of few clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities, numbers 1 and 2 in the Orange Empire Conference standings battled it out to a 1-1 tie in what was an absorbing contest. The Hawks started well but a resolute back-line for the Pirates restricted them to shot’s from distance. At the back the Hawks looked strong but Orange Coast still looked a threat on the break. Jennifer Martin broke the dead-lock in the 42nd minute when the Coast keeper mishandled a Dena Wasielewski shot, and Martin followed in for the Hawks to take the lead.
The second half was just 2 minutes old when OCC equalized from a corner. From then on the Hawks continued to push forward and Kristen Blogg had a good opportunity after a fine ball in from Jennifer Martin but the effort was well-saved. In added time Amanda Scheatzle found an opening to burst through but could not quite find the finish and both teams had to settle for a tie. Jakellene Palacios in goal for SCC registered 1 save.
The Hawks play next at home on Tuesday, October 25th. Kick –off is at 2pm.

Hawks Defeat Dons
Orange, CA - A campus wide power outage during Tuesday's game at SCC may have been a reason the Hawks turned down the voltage against the Dons, but they still had a high enough charge to win comfortably. With out ever reaching top gear, SCC dominated from start to finish, with the Hawks keepers Jakellene Palacios and Emily Tielrooy making 2 saves over the 90 minutes to preserve the shut-out.
Valerie Barrios opened the scoring from close range early in the first-half following a Janelle Hanna knock-down. Minutes later Bianca Frontino powered a drive from the edge of the area in to the roof of the net for the second and then was on hand to follow-in a Ashley Caligiuri shot to put the Hawks up 3-0 at the break.
SCC did not register again until Crystal Mena followed in for the fourth goal late in the game. Amanda Scheatzle scored the fifth with a left footed drive low across the keeper as all the outfield players were called upon in another team win.
The Hawks play next on the road at Orange Coast College. Kick-off on Friday, October 21st is at 3pm.

Frontino made it 3-0 minutes in to the second-half with a powerful drive the Lasers keeper could not keep out. Marissa Vasquez then scored her first goal of the season finishing off a sweeping move down the Hawks left after some great work from Cyd Mandel. Good pressure from Jennifer Martin around the 70 minute mark made the score-line 5-0. Amanda Scheatzle then scored a stunning solo effort before Vasquez again tallied to round out the scoring. Shelbi Young and Emily Tielrooy shared the shut-out in goal.

Five Star Hawks
Mission Viejo, CA - Santiago Canyon was on the road again for their last contest of the first round of league games today against Saddleback College. The Hawks dominated from the opening whistle but struggled to hit the target during the early stages with some wayward shooting. Mid-way through the half Annie Brodzki broke the deadlock with a left footed drive from the top of the box after the hosts had failed to clear. Valerie Barrios then cut inside to fire in off the far post for the second and Jenna Petel was on hand put the Hawks 3 goals up before the break. The Gauchos had a flurry late in the half and Jackie Palacios pulled off a fine save for the Hawks.
Santiago Canyon began where they left off for the second half. Petel grabbed her second goal of the game and Bianca Frontino blasted home the fifth to put the Hawks out of reach on the scoreboard.

Another Road Win For the Hawks
Huntington Beach, CA - Another fine defensive display from the Hawks was capped with a goal by Janelle Hanna to win an entertaining game at Golden West College. Hanna collected the ball calmly after a corner and struck a left-footed half-volley in to the top corner from 25 yards. The Hawks could have been ahead earlier when Valerie Barrios hit the post only to see the ball travel across the goal-line and back out in to the field of play on the other side. Ashley Caligiuri also headed just over, and Jennifer Martin had a header well-saved but the Hawks had to be content with a 1-0 lead at the break.
SCC continued to dominate the second period with Caligiuri firing wide from 12 yards with just the keeper to beat and Martin striking the upright from close range. Despite the pressure, Santiago Canyon did not add to their goal-scoring tally any further, and Jackie Palacios collected the shut-out in goal with 3 saves to her name.
The Hawks finish the first-round of league play against Saddleback College on Friday, October 7th. The game will be played at J-Serra High School and kick-off is at 3pm.

Hawks Tame Tigers
Orange, CA - Santiago Canyon never hit top gear in a stop and start contest against the visiting Riverside Tigers. Valerie Barrios created a good opening in the first few minutes for Amanda Scheatzle who headed over when well placed. It was Scheatzle who opened the scoring after a simple feed from Jennifer Martin. Scheatzle cut inside and struck left-footed to put the Hawks a goal up. Too often the SCC team squandered possession cheaply and they were punished on the 23rd minute mark when the Hawks failed to follow in and the ball broke free for the Tigers to equalize past Ashley Cooper in goal. Santiago Canyon responded and Kristen Blogg crossed for Barrios who nipped in ahead of the keeper and clipped the ball in off the post to give the Hawks the lead. Minutes later Barrios followed in on a Scheatzle cross and was rewarded with her second goal to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead at the interval.
The Hawks continued to dominate possession in the second period as Riverside tried to find a way back in to the game, but neither team were able to add to the scoreline.
The Hawks play next on the road at Golden West College at 3pm on Tuesday, October 4th. Thanks go out to those who came out to cheer on the Hawks and to ASG for their support in numbers at today’s game.

Hawks Take the Sting out of the Hornets
Orange, CA - The Santiago Canyon College Hawks entered the contest tied at the top of the Orange Empire Conference on nine points with a rejuvenated Fullerton College team. The Hornets had posted impressive wins away at Riverside and at home to Orange Coast and Saddleback prior to today’s visit. Both teams approached the contest with an attacking mindset, and it was Janelle Hanna who broke the deadlock for the Hawks when she powered home a header from a Bianca Frontino serve. Amanda Scheatzle then broke clear and rounded the keeper to double the lead before the break.
Early in the second period, Frontino showed great skill to match her work ethic and was rewarded with a fine goal to make the score 3-0. Ashley Caligiuri then linked well with Scheatzle who beat the keeper at the near post to effectively end the contest. Fullerton were reduced to ten players when Frontino was upended infront of goal and Hanna scored again to make the score 5-0. In the closing minutes Jennifer Martin was on hand to tap home the sixth after good work from Caligiuri and Jenna Petel. Ashley Cooper and Jackie Palacios shared the shut-out in what was a convincing win for the Hawks.
The Hawks play next at home to Riverside College on Friday, September 30th. Kick-off is at 3pm.

Hawks Win Streak Comes to An End
Cypress, CA - Santiago Canyon (7-1) continued to build foundations for what lies ahead despite a 0-1 loss on the road at Cypress College (3-3-2). In another highly competitive Hawks v Cypress battle an own goal in the 92nd minute separated the two teams.
SCC dominated for long periods, recording 17 attempts on goal to Cypress 3 but did not find enough quality in the final third to create the crucial opening goal. In the first-half Valerie Barrios hit the bar, and Ashley Caligiuiri fired over when well placed. In the second period, the Hawks continued to look the more likely to score, but in the end SCC were punished for not making more of their possession, nor capitalizing on their set-pieces.
SCC will be looking to bounce back on Tuesday, September 27th at home to Fullerton College.

Santiago Canyon 3, Orange Coast 0
Orange, CA - Another solid defensive display from the Hawks was the highlight of Tuesday’s home win for the host team against Orange Coast Pirates. Defenders Janelle Hanna, Haley Wenlock and Monique Cherry all looked comfortable against an improved Pirate team.
The Hawks got on the board early through a goal by Jennifer Martin as she followed in on a teasing Crystal Mena cross. SCC went on to create numerous openings but could not beat the Coast keeper again until ten minutes before the break when Martin powered a drive across the keeper to make the score 2-0.
In the second period Santiago Canyon continued to dominate, but the Hawks goal-keeper Ashley Cooper was also called upon to make a couple of good saves from close range. As the game edged towards the final whistle Bianca Frontino drove through the heart of the Pirates defense, and slotted the ball in left-footed to close out the scoring.
The Hawks play next on the road at Cypress College on Friday, September 23rd. Kick-off time is 3pm.

Hawks Win at District Rival
Santa Ana, CA - Three first half goals set the Hawks on their way to a victory Friday afternoon in Santa Ana. Playing against the Hawk's sister school, Santiago Canyon lacked quality in the early stages. A great finish by Amanda Scheatzle around the 30 minute mark helped change the tone. Scheatzle cut inside to curl a ball off of the inside of the bar, on to the post and in to the net. Minutes later an industrious Santa Ana team failed to clear a Jennifer Martin cross and Valerie Barrios stole in to crash the ball home. Martin was provider again just before the break, when her lay-off from a Haley Wenlock ball in, was powered in by Dena Wasielewski.
The Hawks continued to dominate in the second period and Martin scored the fourth after teeing up a shot from the edge of the area. Ashley Cooper in goal was called on to make one fine stop. Jakellene Palacios and Cooper combined with a resolute Hawks back-line for the shut-out.

Caligiuri Leads Hawks to Victory
Irvine, CA - Ashley Caligiuri lead the way with two goals and an assist in a 4-0 win against Irvine Valley College Lasers on Tuesday. The Hawks were on the road for the first-time since the opening game of the season and were slow to come to terms with a different playing surface. A wonderful strike from the edge of the penalty area by Bianca Frontino separated the two teams in what was a sluggish opening period for the away team.
After the break the Hawks continued to dominate, but it wasn't until the final quarter of the game that SCC added to the scoreline. Caligiuri grabbed the second goal from inside the six yard box. When Jenna Petel hit the cross-bar minutes later, Caligiuri was on hand again to finish the rebound. Petel then slotted home the fourth goal after Caligiuri found her in space inside the penalty area. Jakellene Palacios was untested in claiming the shut-out against a tenacious Lasers team.
The Hawks play next on the road at sister college Santa Ana on Friday, September 16th. Kick-off is 1pm.

Santiago Canyon 6, Ventura 0
Orange, CA - Another win for the Hawks today meant Santiago Canyon have now played 3 of the Nationally ranked top ten teams in pre-season and come out victorious on all three occasions. Previous wins against Fresno and 2010 State Champions San Bernardino Valley meant it has been a good start to the season for SCC. The final pre-season game today was against perennial challengers Ventura Pirates.
The game started at a high tempo and it was the Hawks who scored early with a fine strike by Bianca Frontino. Valerie Barrios doubled the lead on the half- hour mark after a great first time through ball by Ashley Caligiuri.
After the break, SCC had to absorb some pressure from Ventura much of which was created by the Hawks themselves through unnecessary fouls. Kristen Blogg scored the third from close range on 55 minutes, and shortly after Barrios squared the ball for Caligiuri to seal the contest. The Pirates continued to compete but Hawks keeper Ashley Cooper was not called upon to make a save in the second period and preserved the shut-out. Barrios and Blogg grabbed a second goal each in the final 15 minutes to complete the scoring.
The Hawks open league play on Tuesday, September 13th for a 3pm kick-off at Irvine Valley College. Thanks to all who came out to cheer on the Hawks today.

Brodzki at the Double
Orange, CA - Santiago Canyon College Women’s Soccer hosted families, friends and around 20 teams from the local community on Saturday evening. The contest was billed to be an entertaining contest with the 2010 State Champions San Bernardino Valley College Wolverines the visitors, and those in attendance witnessed a great game. It was the home side that dominated for long periods in the first-half. The Hawks went close on several occasions, and forward Kristen Blogg hit the cross-bar with a header but neither team were able to make the break-through.
The second-half was much the same story with the Hawks pushing for the opening goal. Mid-way through the half the Wolverines created a good opening. The Hawks failed to heed the warning, and minutes later went a goal behind from a long range effort. Santiago Canyon continued to press and Jennifer Martin hit the post from close range. The Hawks were finally rewarded for their dominance when a shot by Crystal Mena was handled in front of goal. Annie Brodzki stepped up to convert the penalty and the Hawks were level with ten minutes remaining. In the closing minutes it was a case of déjà vu, as Mena’s shot was again clearly handled in front of the Wolverine net. Brodzki was up to the challenge once more and the Hawks went up 2-1 to the delight of the hundreds of supporters cheering on the team.
Santiago Canyon closed out the game comfortably, and now look ahead to the visit of Ventura College at 5pm on Friday, September 9th. Thanks to all those who came out today and joined in the fun.

Hawks Commanding at Home
Orange, CA - Santiago Canyon College Women’s Soccer played their first home game of the season and won in comfortable fashion 3-0. The Hawks dominated the opening period, out-shooting the rams 17-3 but only had a one goal lead at the break. That goal came from Valerie Barrios as she created an opening to strike left-footed across the keeper in to the lower corner.
The finishing touch was all that was missing, and early in the second-half the Hawks sealed the contest with two goals in a minute. First Dena Wasielewski hit a free-kick from distance that the Rams Keeper could not keep-out. Immediately afterwards Jennifer Martin swiveled on the top of the 18 yard box and struck the third. Ashley Cooper and Shelbi Young combined for the shut-out, with out either keeper ever being really tested.
The Hawks will look to build on today’s win on Saturday, September 3rd at 6.30pm against current State Champions San Bernardino Valley College. The evening will also be the Hawks Community Night. Details of the event can be found by scrolling further down this page. Thanks to all who attended the game today.

Hawks Open With Road Win
Fresno, CA - Three first-half goals were the difference for the Hawks who opened the season away at Northern California powerhouse Fresno City College Rams. With temperatures soaring well above a hundred degrees, both teams had to manage the conditions. The Hawks started strongly and Jennifer Martin opened the scoring around the ten minute mark with a powerful strike across the keeper. Sophomore Valerie Barrios doubled the lead on the half hour driving past two defenders before rolling the ball past the keeper. In truth the Hawks could have had more, but shortly after the second goal, Hawks goal-keeper Ashley Cooper was called upon to pull-off a big stop to keep the Rams off the scoreboard. The Hawks scored again though before the break, when Kristen Blogg capitalized after the Rams had failed to clear.
Fresno came back in to the game in the second period in what was a far more even contest. Barrios had a second goal ruled out for off-side and the scoreline was unchanged at the final whistle. It was a good first outing for the Hawks who play next at home to Victor Valley College on Tuesday, August 30th at 4pm. Thanks to all the Hawks followers who travelled up to Fresno for today’s game.

Hawks Succeed in the Classroom
As a measure of the Santiago Canyon College Women's Soccer success in recent years, the 2010 season did not live up to the team's expectations on the field. Despite going 19-2-1, and winning the Orange Empire Conference Championship for the seventh consecutive year, an early exit from the State tournament left the team hungry to show what they can achieve in 2011.
In the classroom however, the standards remained extremely high with a team GPA of 3.14 for the Fall semester. In addition, 26 of 27 student-athletes successfully completed over 12 units with an average of 15.5 units per student-athlete.
Santiago Canyon College Women's Soccer have had repeated academic successes off the field, winning the State Scholar Team Award for women's soccer in 2005 and 2006. Congratulations to the 2010 team for their academic achievements.
